Please be advised that a 50% non-refundable deposit will be required within 3 days from the date on your official Estimate.  You will receive your Official Estimate via email within 48 hours after you submit this form.

 
All payments are process manually through the merchant services department with Bank of America.  We will contact you via text message or via a phone call to discuss the payment methods that we offer.

Construction of your costume will not take place until your deposit has been received.  If you have any questions please call our office at 1(925) 978-3096.

IMPORTANT NOTE: - If you want to order multiple costumes for your dance troup (a dance troupe consists of 3 or more dancers) you need to call our office at (925) 978-3096 and we will take your order over the the phone. There are discounts that we are offering to Dance Troupes this year and those discounts have to be appplied manually.

Dance of Lights Costume Design Options

It is best to visit our photo album page and look around for a design that you like the most and jot down the costume colors or the costume name. It is important to remember that our costumes are custom-made and they do not have Velcro closures. There will only be about a 1-inch leeway in the fit of your hip hei. Example: If your hip measurement is 36 inches, your costume will be made to fit hips measuring 35.5 inches to 36.5 inches. In other words, we DO NOT make One-Size-Fits-All costumes. We cannot make costumes like that because our costumes involve lighting and most electrical wiring does not stretch.

Please understand that this order form is very detailed, some might even view it as intense because there are a lot of decisions that must be made and making these kinds of decision might be scary to some. The easiest way to order one of our costumes is to call us at (925) 978-3096 and talk to us in-person. We know what we are doing, and we can easily help you to make the best decisions possible. In the costume industry, making a custom-made costume is referred as “building a costume” because that is exactly what takes place. It is a very involved process where you build layer upon layer until you have reached the very refined top layer. Then, “Voila!!!” your custom-made Dance of Lights costume will have finally been completed and they are absolutely beautiful!!!!

So, if you feel intimidated by the amount of detailed information we need to gather from you, please don’t be. It’s just part of the process that we go through every day and we have no problem assisting you, in fact, we enjoy assisting our customers through this process. With that being said, Let’s begin!!!

Belt Foundation Material

We currently offer two different materials that can be used as the foundation material for your Hip Hei, your Anklet, and will be featured in your headdress, as well: The two options available to you are Leather or Marine Vinyl


***IMPORTANT*** Please bear in mind, if your belt is made out of leather, it will last significantly longer than if your belt is made out of Marine Vinyl. These days Leather comes in just about every color imaginable and there are some exciting new finishes and embossing techniques, that can completely transform leather into a variety of different design looks. Making the foundation of your hip hei out of leather will add years to the life of your costume.

Please note, if you do select Leather there will be an extra charge of $55.00 per costume for Leather, but it is well worth the extra cost.

The brown color you see in the images above represents the strips of cloth that are used to braid the Hau together.

Basic Level Costume: If you are ordering a Basic Level Costume, please select one of the 4 available braiding patterns in the drop down box below.

Deluxe Level Costume: If you are ordering a Deluxe Level Costume, you can select any of the braiding Patterns you see in any of the 3 images above, however the 3rd Image directly above displays braiding patterns that were specifically designed for Deluxe Level 6-Strand Braided Costumes only.

Please use the drop down boxes below to select your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices of the braiding pattern that you want featured in your costume. We will contact you if we are unable use your 1st choice or if there are any other issues with the braiding patterns you selected and the colors of hau you will be selecting next.

Choosing your colors of Hau

If you are ordering a Basic Level Costume you may select 1, 2, or 3 colors of Hau.

If you are ordering a Deluxe Level Costume, then please look at the notes underneath or at the bottom of the Braiding Patterns that you selected above. These notes will tell you how many colors of Hau you can select for your costume.

Please select the all the colors of Hau you want featured in your costume. (Be careful not to choose more than one dark color of Hau.) We will call you if there is an issue with any of the colors you selected. Note: Only one color of Hau is Black Light reactive and that is the Bright Pink color.

Costume Lighting

Basic Level Costumes - comes with 1-2 LED Light strings (totaling between 40 – 90 mini 5mm light bulbs) and there will be a maximum of 130 fiber optic End Glow Strands that will be woven into your Hip Hei during the braiding process.

Deluxe Level Costumes - come with 1-4 LED Light Strings (totaling between 50 to 150 mini LED 5 mm bulbs that will be woven into your hip hei during the braiding process) and there will be a minimum of 130 to 160 fiber optic End Glow Strands that will be woven into your costume during the braiding process.

Unfortunately, the colors of battery operated LED light strings are limited. But fortunately, we have figured out how to change certain colors of LED light bulbs into the colors that were needed to match certain colors of Hau. This means that some costumes will come with lights that require a small amount of upkeep or maintenance that the dancer will periodically need to perform so that the light bulbs emit the proper color of lighting for their costume. It is crucial that the lights on your costume are bright and fully display their intended colors.

Dance of Lights Anklets

Our lighted Anklets feature beautiful Mosaic, Applique, or Inlay Designs. You can select a design that you want to be featured in the center of your lighted anklet. We will be making your anklets out of the same material you selected for the foundation of your hip hei, e.g. Leather or Vinyl and the colors of your Anklet will match the same colors in your costume. Most Anklets feature one string of fairy Lights, however certain designs and materials, such as, marine vinyl, will not support a string of 30 fairy lights so we are forced to use a single Bullet light.

For those of you who are ordering costumes for members of a dance troupe, it is important to recognized that our costumes can still acheive a very cohesive look even if the dancers in your troupe select different design motifs for the center area of their lighted anklet. Most audiences members will never be able to discern that your dancers have different motifs displayed on their anklets. Allowing dancers to chose the design featured on the center of their anklets, gi ves them the opportunity to choose a design that might mean something special to them.

Don't worry, all of the Anklets will have the appearaqnce of being very similar in size, coloration, and lighting. But, something very interesting tends to occur when the members of the troupe finish their performance and they head out into the crowd to meet some of the members of their audience. Inevitably an audience member will notice that each dancer has a different design in the center of their Anklet and this tiny little thing ends up creating the perfect opportunity for an inpromptu conversation to take place between the dancer and the audience members and this will provide an opening for the audience to ask more questions about the Tahitian culture.

Please bear in mind, that some of the design options below will not work well when using vinyl (glue of any kind does not work on vinyl or PU materials). If the option has an “*” next to it, this means that the design must be made from leather or something other than vinyl).

If you are ordering a Basic Level Costume without a Deluxe or Premium Upgrade Package please choose from the following Anklet Mosaic, Applique, or Inlay Designs:

Note: Your Anklet will also be decorated with either short pieces of Hau, Feathers, or both. Marine vinyl is not strong enough to support more than one Bullet light however if your anklet is made form leather we will attach one full string of fairy lights (the number of fairy lights depends on the size of the design. The string of lights will consist of between 20-30 fairy lights. Many times we will use Marabou feather boas (small soft baby feathers) to decorate Anklets because they will create a diffused type of lighting, just like the lighting you will see in the rest of your costume

Lighted Feather and Fabric Headdresses

Deluxe and Premium Level

All of our headdresses feature a technique that we invented and call Faux Window Pane, which creates a 3-D effect on the front of the headdress that draws attention to the design in the center front of the headdress. The décor on your headdress will incorporate most of the design options that you have already selected above. If you are ordering costumes for a troupe of dancers, the headdresses will be made exactly like the other headdresses being worn by the other members of your dance troupe. If you are an independent contractor, you can work with your costume designer if you want to feature something special on your headdress. Headdresses range in price from our smallest design @ $120.00 to our largest and tallest designs priced at over $280.00

Upgrade Packages – Pareu Fabric to be discussed with your Costume Designer

  1. One custom-made reversible Pareu with sculpted hem, dart on the side for a better fit around the hips, and two bow shaped ties on the top two corners.
  2. One custom-made Matching Bikini Top (same fabric as the Pareu), with molded foam bra cup inserts for a more secure fit, and lycra spandex neck straps and back straps.
  1. One custom-made reversible Pareu with sculpted hem, dart on the side for a better fit around the hips, and two bow shaped ties on the top two corners.
  2. One custom-made Matching Bikini Top (same fabric as the Pareu), with molded foam bra cup inserts for a more secure fit, and lycra spandex neck straps and back straps.
  3. One Deluxe Level Feather and Fabric Headdress. The headdress will be decorated with more than 300 beautiful feathers, plus other decorations that will be consistent with the other design options you have previously selected for you costume. This headdress will have at least 210 fairy lights attached to both the front and back sections of the Headdress. The closure consists of one double-banded leather strap on each side that tightly wraps around the crown of the head and closes with heavy duty Velcro.
  1. One custom-made reversible Pareu with sculpted hem, dart on the side for a better fit around the hips, and two bow shaped ties on the top two corners.
  2. One custom-made Matching Bikini Top (same fabric as the Pareu), with molded foam bra cup inserts for a more secure fit, and lycra spandex neck straps and back straps.
  3. One Premium Level Feather and Fabric Headdress – This style of headdress is the most elaborate headdress that we make. It is a 3-D headdress with different and separate layers that we bind together creating a true 3-D headdress. This headdress still features our very popular Faux Window Pane technique on the center front area of the headdress. This headdress will be decorated with more than 500 beautiful feathers, plus other decorations that will be consistent with the other design options that you previously selected for your costume. This headdress will have at least 240 fairy lights attached to both the front and back sections of the Headdress. Comfortable padding has also been added to the inside front brow and forehead area of the headdress. Heavy-duty, sew-on, Velcro strips, have been attached to the ends of a pair of 2” wide double layered leather bands, providing a very secure method of tightly holding the 3-D headdress on your head during your dance performances

Now, you just need to add up the costs for the items that you have selected, and this will be your Unofficial Cost Estimate for your costume. We will create a real estimate based on your selections above but we will add estimated shipping costs and estimated sales tax to your official Estimate, which we will send to you via email.


Please review your official Estimate and if everything looks okay, please add your signature to bottom.

PLEASE BE ADVISED: We do require our customers to pay a 50% non-refundable deposit for all of our costumes. This amount will be reflected on your official Estimate. We will not begin the construction of your costume until the 50% non-refundable deposit has been paid.
The 50% remaining Balance plus any adjustments of the estimated shipping costs and taxes will be calculated when your costume has been completed and is being prepared for shipping. We will send you a final Invoice via email and you will be expected to pay the Final Balance Due within 3 days. Once payment has been received, we will ship your costume to you. We usually ship our costumes Priority Mail or Fed-EX Home (3-4 day delivery). We do insure the package for the full value of the contents. We do not require a signature when the package is delivered, so if there are special delivery instructions you need to let us know.

We know that you will be very pleased with your Dance of Lights Costume. We will send some very important instructions about your costume, how to operate the lights, how to store your costume, how to protect your costume from any unintended damage, so please carefully read through all the instructions before you attempt to put on your costume. Our costumes use an entirely different method, NOT VELCRO, to secure the costume on your body. We do have a couple of short videos to help you understand how to lace up your costume at the side opening and how to tie your Pareu, (if you purchased one our custom-made Reversible Pareus via one of our Upgrade Packages.
