Dance of Lights and its owner, Julie Carlson, are proud to announce to all of our fans and followers that we have received official notification from the original founder of the Tahiti Fête of San Jose, Auntie Pua Tokumoto, that our application to be a vendor at this year’s dance competition has officially been approved .

This is no small feat. In fact, it is very difficult for a new vendors to be granted permission to show their wares at this event.

Tahiti Fête of San Jose is considered the largest Tahitian dance competition in the United States. Tahiti Fête of San Jose spotlights the tradition of Tahitian dance and culture. Dancers come from all over the world to compete with the exquisite costumes, demonstrating traditional and contemporary choreography while showcasing the rich history and tales of the Polynesian people. Alongside the stage, food vendors sell traditional Polynesian treats, artisans offer exquisite Polynesian crafts and guests can participate in cultural dancing workshops conducted by the esteemed judges from the competition.

This will be the Dance of Lights company’s second public debut. Their first public debute took place October 23rd, 2021 in a small theater in Brentwood, CA. “It was the perfect event to kick off our business being as our Dance of Lights costume design was only 2 months old and there were only 2 costumes in existence”, remarks, Julie Carlson, who is the inventor and owner of this unique Tahitian Dance Costume design.

Since that first night in Brentwood, I have been looking for a way to get our costume out there, in front of as many eyes as we possible can, and this huge event in San Jose it just what we need. We want to introduce our costume design to Tahitian Dancers and entertainers from around the world and this event checks off all the boxes.

Carlson plans to display numerous designs from her 2021 – 2023 Dance of Lights Tahitian Dance Costume Collection which, to date, consists of about 16 different designs. Some costume have some very intriguing names such, Tahitian Sunset, The Volcano, Green Ombre, and her most elaborate costume that Carlson has named, The Mauna Loa.

So mark the dates of June 30th – July 3rd down on your calendar as it should be a great experience for all who attend.
